My Tiny Little Disco Greenhouse! Saturday Feb. 8, 2020

In a special disclosure, I was so busy working on my garden this year, the blog itself is being written in the afterwards of all the work.  I've learned so much and I'm trying new things so I will start by saying that I'm spending more time this year working on the soil.  I haven't really been successful with my garden since moving to Houston in 2014.  This year I'm absolutely determined to get over this hump and have thrown myself into learning the best way to garden in this area and try to reschedule my inner gardening time clock to match where my plants are actually growing.  The local experts are clearly used to Northerners coming down here and failing splendidly when trying to garden.

In that effort I ammended the soil in my raised container garden.  I'm actually studying the science a little bit and I'm hopeful it's going to help.  So, starting in January, I began working on the soil, adding some dirt from Arbor Gate at $12 a bag and some compost.  I bought a MUCH bigger pot from Arbor Gate as well because my containers just don't give them the room to stretch their roots.  This wont fix my squirrel problem but it's a start.

And then on February 22, 2020... THIS HAPPENED!

Charles gave me this greenhouse for my birthday!  It's the best present ever!
Getting to this point took a little work!

I started adding a few necessities for a greenhouse...
Even though I thought we were past any hard freezes, I knew I was going to need to heat up the greenhouse a little.  I got this awesome little heating pad that goes under plant trays and it worked like a charm.  Look at the fog on the seedling tray! I got it at Amazon HERE
Until I figure out a different heat source for my tiny greenhouse, this mat worked great and amazingly even heated up the whole area as well.
I then added this little grow-light I got from Amazon...  It also worked great although I probably  need to get two so I can get the light closer to the seeds.  Having it too far causes leggy seedlings.  I bought this at Amazon as well.  Click HERE to see it.
And that night I was so delighted to see this amazingness... and I never get tired of peeking out at it from my guest bathroom window.  I know that I as I learn how to utilize my new Greenhouse to get the most out of my gardening experience, I'm going to be having a LOT of fun.
